9집 앨범 An American Prayer (설명은 여기 참조)의 첫번째 챕터.

짐 모리슨은 어려서 고속도로에서 교통사고를 목격하는데 그때 인디언들이 죽어가는 것을 본다. 어린 나이의 짐은 아마도 죽음을 처음 목격한 것으로 보인다. 그 사건으로 인해 죽음과 부활 같은 것이 평생 심리적인 영향을 준 듯 하다. Awake는 그 사건에 대한 얘기로 총 4편의 시(Awake, Ghost Song, Dawn's Highway, Newborn Awakening)로 구성되어 있다.
